Services of striking NHM workers terminated
Chandigarh, May 10, 2021:
The National Health Mission (NHM) Punjab on Monday directed all the civil surgeons of the state to terminate the services of striking employees, who had not joined their duties despite several appeals to them.
Mission Director of NHM wrote a letter in this regard where it is stated that the agitating employees had been appealed by the government several times to end their strike and join the duties as the state is facing COVID crisis. The employees were even issued a warning by the government on Sunday that their services would be terminated if they failed to join their duties on May 10.
The NHM stated that due to shortage of employees, the work of the health department has been affected greatly.
The civil surgeons have also been directed to recruit volunteer staff in place of dismissed employees.
