Western Command starts 100-bed COVID hospital in PU hostel
Chandigarh, May 10, 2021:
The western command of Indian army has started its 100-bed COVID hospital in the International Hostel of Panjab University in Sector 25 here on Monday.
Colonel Jasdeep Sandhu informed that the hospital has been set-up on the request of UT administration amid rising cases of COVID-19. He said the new army hospital would help reduce the burden of city hospitals.
Trained doctors will treat the COVID patients, referred from Government Multi Specialty Hospital (GMSH), Sector 16. All the floors of the international hostel of the university have been utilized by the army. The doctors will also get their accommodations inside the campus. Each room of the fully air-conditioned hospital is having two to three beds with all necessary medical equipment. The hospital also has ambulances for the facility of patients, said Colonel Sandhu.
