Jalandhar DC orders on-site mobile vaccination camps for construction workers
SAYS, MOVE AIMS AT FACILITATING ALL ELIGIBLE BENEFICIARIES FALLING IN THE AGE GROUP OF 18-44
SPECIAL ON-SITE CAMPS WOULD ALSO BENEFIT UNREGISTERED WORKERS EMPLOYED AT CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS
Jalandhar, May 11, 2021: To cover maximum construction workers under the first phase of vaccination drive for the 18-44 age group, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori on Tuesday directed the labor and health authorities to organize mobile vaccination camps for this priority group across the district.
Divulging the details, the DC said that the state government has launched the first phase of vaccination drive for this priority group and district administration was geared up to implement this drive in full swing. He stated that the officials were directed to hold on-site vaccination camps for the construction workers adding that even non-registered construction workers would be benefited during these camps alongside their registration under the Punjab Construction Workers’ Welfare Board.
The DC said that these camps would be held at various construction sites where workers are employed and their on-the-spot immunization would be done by the special teams. He stated that more than 5000 registered construction workers would be eligible in the district under this drive and no stone would be left unturned to vaccinate this priority group by the administration.
The Deputy Commissioner appealed to the construction companies to come forward and play a proactive role in this drive by ensuring vaccination of all their workers. He also urged these companies as well as eligible beneficiaries to contact the Assistant Labor Commissioner on his mobile number 9417199349 in case of any kind of assistance.
Pointing out further, Assistant Labor Commissioner Jatinder Pal Singh said that a total of 200 construction workers have been inoculated in the last two days and efforts were being made to intensify this drive in the district. He stated that registered beneficiaries were being informed by the officials through various means about the vaccination drive, however, the unregistered workers found at construction sites would be inoculated on-the-spot besides their registration under the scheme.
