World Nursing Day dedicated to Nightingale celebrated at Civil Hospital
On World Nursing Day, Nursing Association demand to re-designate Nurse as ‘Nurse Officer’
Ferozepur May 12, 2021: World Nursing Day was celebrated on Wednesday at Civil Hospital, Ferozepur with participation of nurses working in different departments, as part of a series launched by Nightingale with the aim of service.
On this occasion, Jaswinder Singh Kaura and Sumit Gill took the initiative to submit a memorandum to the Punjab government to re-designate the nursing cadre staff working as Nursing Officer. They said, the Central government has already re-designated the nursing staff as Nurse Officer. The word nurse is used in hospitals in a demeaning way. Despite high qualification like master degrees, the designation made many feel like they are being looked down.
Likewise, the Punjab government may also follow as there will be no extra financial burden on government exchequer rather it will boost the morale of nursing cadre and change of designation will also end discrimination., they added.
Ram Parshad, Para-Medical Union President congratulated on the World Nursing Day and supported the demand of the Nursing Association.
