Both Central and state governments failed in addressing colossal health issue: SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur

Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Bibi Jagir Kaur on Friday came down on the failure of the Central and state Congress government in Punjab to provide adequate health infrastructure while misusing and mismanagement of resources and the state reeling under the unfortunate 2.5 per cent death rate in comparison to 1 per cent of the nation.
Taking initiative to start a COVID Care Centre for Oxygen langar for the Covid-19 affected patients in Bholath, Bibi Jagir Kaur regretted that, “In a pandemic of such magnitude the governments have not lived up and not risen up to address the crisis facing humanity”.
She said the SGPC in the recent past had purchased vaccination and had taken for free set up camps to vaccinate the public.
The SGPC has always led in coming to the rescue of the humanity and in challenging and difficult times done sewa of the society, she said.
She said that only four ventilators were allocated to the district Kapurthala which includes Sultanpur, Bholath and Phagwara. “Unfortunately only one is in working condition as the three others are of poor quality procured by the Centre in PM Cares Fund”, said Bibi Jagir Kaur.
“The entire system is in shambles and we appeal to all officers, leaders and political parties to come forward in saving lives and work in tandem to give relief”, said Bibi Jagir Kaur.
SGPC president also reiterated that her whole focus will be that the SGPC uses its resources and infrastructure to provide relief to the humanity.
