Sacrilege Incidents: Sukhbir challenges Congress leaders, other to show proof of involvement of SAD leaders
Chandigarh, May 15, 2021: Amid the ongoing debate in Punjab political circles on Bargari, Kotkapura firing case, and holy book sacrilege incidents, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Sukhbir Singh Badal has challenged all the Congress leaders and others who have been targeting Akali Dal to show proof of involvement of SAD leaders.
Sukhbir said that a lot of Congressmen and their open or secret allies are claiming daily that they have concrete and irrefutable proof on who planned, sponsored, and carried out the nefarious and unforgivable sin of sacrilege against the holiest of the Holy Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj.
He urged Congress leaders including Sunil Jakhar, Navjot Singh Sidhu, SS Randhawa, and AAP leader Bhagwant Mann along with others who he said had earlier claimed that they have proofs as to who has committed such heinous crime and share it with Khalsa Panth, SIT, Court and people at large.
“If they have such conclusive proof, then I am surprised why have they been hiding it from the Khalsa Panth, the SIT, the courts and the people of Punjab and the rest of the world for more than 4 and half years since the formation of the Amarinder government. Even today, I strongly urge them to publicly place before the Khalsa Panth, the Court, the SIT, and the people, in general, every detail of whatever irrefutable proof they have against anyone on the most painful act of sacrilege. Why have they allowed the Khalsa Panth and others to go through this unspeakable pain for such a long time if they always had such proof in their possession as they have been claiming to possess all these years? They must also explain to the Khalsa Panth and everyone else including SIT and the Courts why have they been hiding these proofs from the SIT, the Sikh diaspora, and the courts while they knew that the sacrilege has inflicted deep and unprecedented wounds on the hearts and souls of the devout Sikhs all over the world and everyone wants the guilty to be exposed and punished as soon as possible,” expressed SAD chief.
Sukhbir further assured that SAD will fully cooperate with the new SIT formed by the state government for investigating sacrilege incidents.
“Although we had made it clear that we had no faith in the previous politically motivated SIT nor do we expect the present SIT to be allowed to function without political interference, Yet we had appeared before and fully cooperated with the previous SIT. Likewise, we will fully cooperate with the present SIT also even though everyone knows that the Cong govt's motives behind setting up SIT were always just political vendetta by playing with the sentiments of the devout Sikh masses. Still, we will fully cooperate with this SIT too. This is because we hold the law and the judiciary in the country in the highest esteem,” he added.
