Chandigarh, May 15, 2021:
Mahinder Sathi, a resident of Moga and an elderly Punjabi writer, is critically ill and is suffering from COVID-19 in a hospital of Nurpur Bedi in Ropar. An association of writers has written a letter to the Punjab health minister Balbir Sidhu to help Mahinder by providing the best medical assistant.
Former president of Punjabi Sahit Academy, Gurbhajan Gill said in a letter, written to Balbir Sidhu, that due to COVID, a well-wisher of Mahinder took him from Moga to Nurpur Bedi where he was admitted to Gurdev Hospital. There was no one to take care of him in Moga. Mahendra Sathi has no source of income and needs your help due to his old age. Please help to save the life of the respected author, Gill wrote in his letter.
According to his close relatives, the condition of Mahinder is critical and he is currently on a ventilator.
It is worth mentioning that his wife has also been bedridden for two years due to kidney failure. She is currently undergoing dialysis with her daughter in Muktsar.
A letter has also been sent to the Punjab Chief Minister by the Lok Sahitya Academy, an association of writers from Moga through Harjot Kamal, MLA of Moga.
