Mohali police held deceased DSP Harjinder Singh’s brother for assaulting his family

Mohali, June 13, 2021:
Mohali police on Sunday arrested the brother of Ludhiana DSP Harjinder Singh, who recently died of COVID-19, for allegedly assaulting and abusing his family members.
The accused, Baljeet Singh, has been arrested by the Mataur police on the complaint of Manjit Singh, cousin brother of Harjinder Singh.
The complainant told the police that he along with Hardeep Singh (also cousin brother of Harjinder Singh) was staying with Harjinder Singh’s mother Balwinder Kaur and his two sons, Gurnoor Singh (18) and Rohitveer Singh (8) at his residence in Sector 70 here. They have been staying with the family to look after them since his death. On Sunday, Baljeet arrived at their house and started abusing the whole family. After that, he also assaulted them and then entered inside a room after forcing the children out of their room. Before leaving their house, Baljeet also threatened them, said the complainant.
He added that they had received deep injuries after Baljeet assaulted them.
On his complaint, a case has been registered against Baljeet Singh under Sections 452, 506, 353 and 186 of the IPC at the Mataur police station.
"Following the FIR, the accused was arrested on Sunday evening," confirmed a police official of Mataur police station.
