Mohali MC passes almost all resolutions in meeting
Resolution kept pending for mobile companies to set up towers
Resolution passed to check the quality of ongoing development works

A meeting of Mohali Municipal Corporation (MC) was held online under the chairmanship of Mayor Amarjit Singh Jeeti Sidhu on Tuesday in which all the resolutions were passed except one which was kept pending.
Senior Deputy Mayor Amrik Singh Somal, Deputy Mayor Kuljit Singh Bedi, Commissioner Kamal Garg and Municipal Corporation officials were present in the meeting.
Most importantly, for the first time the MC has passed a resolution for sampling of works to be carried out by the Corporation. As per the mayor, this will not only increase transparency in development works but also improve quality.
Mohali deputy mayor Kuljeet Bedi said that according to the resolution, premix carpeting, footpaths, paving blocks, CC flooring, water supply, sewer line, installation of tubewells etc. are carried out at various places including the maintenance of roads in Mohali. In view of the quality check of these works, their testing is done only by the recognized agencies as per the instructions of the government. A resolution has been passed seeking rates from quality agencies and labs.
Another resolution was passed and sent to the government to extend the cleaning contract for two months and to recruit the Safai Sevaks.
Apart from this the space requested by Markfed for 10 booths at different places has been allotted. Markfed will set up booths at these places and allot them further. Only Markfed products will be sold in these shops, informed Bedi.
Similarly a resolution was also passed to provide new requested sites by Verka.
A resolution has been passed to reconstitute the town Vending Committee. The committee was dissolved after five years. The authority to nominate a new committee was given to Mayor Jeeti Sidhu.
The mayor was also given the authority to hand-over parks to various Resident Welfare Associations in Mohali for maintenance.
The Mohali Municipal Corporation has also passed a resolution seeking expression of interest for survey of stray dogs in Mohali area.
According to a report by the Sanitation department, the commissioner had in a previous meeting directed that an expression of interest be sought for the survey of stray dogs within the municipal limits.
In another resolution passed, the penalty imposed on renewal of trade licenses by various shopkeepers and industrialists every year has been reduced. This penalty used to be very high.
The contract of 'Rainbow', a company that collects garbage from people's homes during the Corona pandemic, has been extended for another six months.
However, in a letter sent by the Local Government Department of Punjab regarding the allocation of places for mobile towers in Mohali area, the resolution has been kept pending by the MC.
