Sukhbir Badal talks to ETT teachers, who were lathi-charged by Patiala police
Chandigarh, June 15, 2021:
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Badal on Tuesday talked to the ETT teachers through video call, who were lathi-charged by the Patiala police when they were protesting near Moti Mahal of Capt Amarinder Singh. Badal also assured them that he would talk to the senior police officials of the district and demand action against the cops, who brutally beaten teachers, especially women, who were protesting for their rights.
The SAD president has uploaded two videos on his Twitter. In the first video, he can be seen talking to Harinderpal Singh Chandumajra, MLA Sanaur, and some protesters, who were beaten by the police. Badal wrote in his post, “The dastardly manner in which unemployed ETT TET qualified teachers were abused & thrashed while exercising their right to protest by marching to CM Capt Amarinder Singh’s Moti Mahal in Patiala is condemnable. More so is the green signal given by the CM to brutalise young women.”
In another video, Badal can be seen talking to a woman, who is narrating the incident of lathicharge to him. He captioned the video, “Young women assaulted by cops on CM's orders talked to me & told me they were victims of casteist remarks also. Cong govt not only reneged on its GharGharRozgar promise but is even beating up those who remind it of the same. SAD will come to the aid of these women & fight for them.”
It is to be noted that Patiala Police on Tuesday lathi-charged the unemployed teachers who were protesting by marching towards residence of Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh. The members of the ETT/TET pass teachers union had planned to surround the Moti Mahal of CM Captain Amarinder Singh to demand employment.
