Ferozepur: Four held with opium, poppy husk
Ferozepur, June 16, 2021: The Ferozepur police nabbed five persons against its drive over drug smugglers, peddlers, anti-social elements and recovered opium and poppy husk from their possession. The accused have been identified as Gurjit Singh, Balvir Singh, Pardeep Singh and Harjinder Singh.
Divulging with details, SSP Bhagirath Singh Meena said, when a police team - headed by Rattan Singh SP(I), Ravinderpal Singh Dhillon, DSP(I), Manmohan Singh Aulakh, DSP(NDPS Act) along with Parminder Singh Bajwa, Incharge Anti-Nacotic Cell - had put up a ‘naka’ at Zira road T-Point, an in-put was received that a Ghhora Trala number PB-05W-7813 being driven by Gurjit Singh along with Balvir Singh conductor and another vehicle No.PB-05AV-7513 by Pardeep Singh and conductor Harjinder Singh were intercepted and on search 2 kg opium in plastic packets and 35 kg poppy husk from the possession of Gurjit Singh and conductor Balvir Singh and from the other vehicle 2.500 kg opium and 15 kg poppy husk was recovered from Harjinder Singh’s possession.
He said, in total 4.500 kg opium and 50 kg poppy husk was recovered from their possession. During in-depth investigation, it has come to surface that they have purchased opium at the rate of Rs.35,000 per kg from Dobi City of Bihar State and Rs.1000 per kg poppy husk from Jharkhand State from different sources.
Harjinder Singh of Sarhali has been found to be involved in NDPC Act cases at Tarn Taran and more backward and forward links to bust the entire supply line.
