Ferozepur: IMA observes National Protest Day, submits memorandum to DC
Ferozepur, June 18, 2021: The Indian Medical Association today observed National Protest Day with an objective to stop assault on profession and professionals with the slogan "Save the Saviours".
Later on, Dr N.K .Nanda President IMA Ferozepur along with Dr Ashwani Kalia Secretary,Dr Manpreet Singh Joint Secretary, Dr Vikas Bansal Treasurer, Dr Surinder Pal Kataria and Dr Pardeep Aggarwal Executive Members submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner Ferozepur in protest against violence against doctors and damage to the property of Nursing Homes and hospitals.
IMA also saluted and paod homage to 720 of our colleagues who have died during the second wave of Covid19 pandemic.
Dr Nanda said,we are pained to see the unleash of series of violence on doctors on Covid duty in the last two weeks in Assam, Bihar, West Bengal, Delhi, UP, Karnataka and many other places. Doctors have sustained multiple fractures and serious injuries and female doctors face more violent verbal and physical assaults.
" Every day, it is happening. We have tried our best to bring these distressing acts to the notice of Prime Minister, Home Minister, Health Minister and the Chief Ministers of various States but of not much relief. We thanked Assam Chief Minister for his care and concern shown to the affected doctors. We need to express our anguish and solidarity together to make the Government realize and come out in public and ensure that our demands are implemented - Care Professionals Protection Act with IPC & CPPC tag, Standardization and augmentation of security in each hospital, Hospital shall be declared as protected zone, Assault culprits shall be punished under fast-track mode and stringent punishment shall be given," said Dr Nanda.
He further said, as a responsible organization, we are conscious of our duties during this pandemic times.
