Chandigarh, June 18, 2021:
The Supreme Court on Friday set aside the order of Punjab and Haryana Court of dismissing the petition filed by gangster Jaipal Bhullar’s father to conduct re-postmortem of his son.
The apex court requested the Punjab and Haryana High Court to again take the petition of Jaipal’s father Bhupinder Singh on June 21.
Also, the court directed the Punjab government to make necessary arrangements for proper preservation and storage of Jaipal Bhullar’s body.
Notably, the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Thursday dismissed the petition of gangster Jaipal Bhullar’s father, Bhupinder Singh, for conducting the re-postmortem of Bhullar.
The court in its order said that the matter is not in the jurisdiction of Punjab and Haryana High Court as Bhullar died in Kolkata and his postmortem was also conducted there.
Jaipal’s father had approached the court and alleged that his son died due to merciless torture by the police but he was declared dead in a fake encounter. The family of Jaipal Bhullar had also alleged that Jaipal body’s had deep wounds. The family demanded his postmortem be conducted by the PGI, Chandigarh or any other independent institute.
