6th Pay Commission row: Punjab Vets irked at reduction of NPA & its delinking from salary
Mohali, June 19, 2021:
Punjab State Veterinary Officers Association (PSVOA) has out rightly rejected the implementation of the 6th Punjab Pay Commission, which was approved by the CMM on Friday.
An emergent meeting of the state executive of PSVOA was held here on Saturday under the chairmanship of President Dr Sarabjit Singh Randhawa to discuss the implementation of Pay Commission recommendations. Dr Randhawa said that by reducing NPA of veterinarians, medicos, Ayurveda and homeopathic doctors and delinking it to be part of pay for all purposes, the government had played a cruel joke with technocrats who had played crucial role during the ongoing pandemic even at the risk of their lives. He added that veterinarians and medicos had been granted NPA, due to their long duration of study and late entry to service, which was considered part of pay for all purposes including pensionary benefits. Dr Randhawa urged the Punjab Government to restore the NPA @ 25 % of basic pay and to let it remain part of pay for all purposes.
Meanwhile, Senior Vets Association has also flayed the Punjab Government for reducing the NPA to 20 percent and delinking it to be part of salary for calculation of other allowances and pensionary benefits. Dr Gurinder Singh Walia retired Joint Director and member Punjab State Veterinary Council perceived that leave encashment, pension and gratuity of Vets will be reduced, which was perhaps parting gift by the Punjab government to the employees.
