Sidhu & Sidhu.. dominates in Navjot Sidhu’s own speech at the installation
Chandigarh, July 23, 2021:
The newly appointed chief of Punjab Congress, Navjot Sidhu, dominated in his own show on Friday on occasion of his coronation at Punjab Congress Bhawan here.
Almost every leader of the party, who addressed from the stage, mentioned ‘Sidhu’ in their speeches including the chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh.
Interestingly, when addressing the public in the last, Navjot Sidhu mentioned his own name ‘Sidhu’ ten times in 18 minutes of his speech. The new Congress chief, did not even mention the names of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, who have selected his name for the post of PPCC president, unlike Capt Amarinder Singh.
Punjab CM shares his relation with family of Navjot Sidhu:
When chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh was addressing, he shared his relations with the family of Navjot Sidhu in a bid to break the ice between him and the new Punjab Congress chief. Amarinder Singh disclosed that it was Bhagwant Singh Sidhu, father of Navjot Sidhu, who introduced him to politics as he did not know much about politics then. “Me and Navjot’s father held so many meetings at my house as well as at his house to discuss affairs of politics. I still remember, when I used to meet his father at his house, he (Navjot Sidhu) was a small kid and he often used to play there,” said the chief minister while adding that “You can imagine the difference between me and Navjot from the fact that when he was born, I was in the army and fighting for our country at the border.” The chief minister even concluded his speech by appealing to the public to support Navjot Sidhu and for the party to work collectively for the country.
Sidhu’s attitude towards Captain:
It was also seen during the whole ‘installation ceremony’ that Navjot Sidhu was still still holding a little bit of grudge against Capt Amarinder Singh. His body language stated many things about this. Sidhu was seeking blessings from three senior Congress leaders including Bibi Bhathal and Lal Singh by touching their feet before starting his speech, but did not show the same gesture towards CM, who was sitting just next to him. During his speech, he did not seem much interested in talking about Capt Amarinder Singh.

However, Amarinder was seen trying to patch up with Sidhu and it could be witnessed through many of his moves. But, the attitude of Sidhu towards the CM remained unchanged.
Sidhu stick to his anti-Badal agenda during his address:
Navjot Sidhu, throughout his speech, again highlighted the issues that he usually mentions in public and media. He said, “I will remain stick to my agenda, i.e. issues of Punjab. For me, the biggest agenda is to put the accused of Guru Sahib’s sacrilege behind bars.” He even asked the CM during his speech that they had to pay heed towards issues of employees, teachers and doctors.

Sunil Jakhar brings inner-contradictions and flaws in the congress
The former PPCC chief, Sunil Jakhar, spoke frankly while addressing the public from the stage. It was seen that Jakhar was speaking from the inner core of his heart. He said many grateful words for the chief minister. He also raised his objections regarding a few activities inside the party. But, whatever he said, he kept humbleness in his whole speech. Replying to the media reports, that ‘Sunil Jakhar was unhappy over Navjot Sidhu’s appointment’, he said, “I have been serving the party as a president for the last four years and two months. If I still look for more, I cannot ever be satisfied. I was very happy when I came to know about the name of Navjot Sidhu as our new party chief.”
No Congress leader from Chandigarh UT and neighboring states
Shockingly, no Congress leader from the neighboring states including Haryana and Himachal Pradesh attended the installation ceremony. Even the leaders of Chandigarh Congress did not attend the function, despite the fact that the function was organized in the city.
