Thanksgiving on the eve of my superannuation (my message today in the Punjab Cadre IAS Group)
I have worn (pun intended) the tag of IAS for nearly 37 years. It has indeed been a rare privilege to have done so and I am truly beholden to innumerable persons who made this journey smooth, comfortable and worthwhile.
During my career in the Civil Service, I have made great friends, met some fantastic people, including colleagues and have garnered varied, unique and rich experiences.
But time has come to shed this tag to begin my second innings as an ordinary citizen of this great Nation. Needless to say, I shall rededicate myself completely to public service— without being a public servant.
It shall be my utmost endeavour not to bother my friends from the Service for any favours or preferential treatment— but should I be in a position to be of any assistance, "Be assur'd/ my person, my extremest means/ Lie all unlock'd to your occasions.”
Finally, “I can no other answer make, but, thanks, and thanks, and ever thanks.”
See you on the other side! (Will exit this Group soon).
KBS Sidhu.
