10,943 people get benefit through free pick-up and drop vaccination drive in Chandigarh
Chandigarh, August 23, 2021:
With an aim to provide inclusive, seamless and accessible delivery of COVID-19 vaccination to Disabled Persons, Senior Citizens and their Caregivers residing in U.T., Chandigarh, a “Special COVID-19 Vaccination Drive" was commenced by the Department of Social Welfare, Women & Child Development, Chandigarh, on 28th June ‘2021, in convergence with the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Chandigarh.
Considering the impact of the drive, the Department of Social Welfare has decided to continue its services of free pick up & drop through toll free helpline number 181-3, 9915023456 as and when any Persons with Disabilities/Senior Citizens approaches the helpline in addition to the door-to-door vaccination drive initiated by the Department of Health, U.T., Chandigarh.
The Department successfully facilitated seamless delivery of COVID vaccination to 10,943 people (598 Persons with Disabilities, 9743 Senior Citizens and 602 caregivers) as on 16.8.2021.During the vaccination drive the Department of Social Welfare had provided free pick up & drop facility from the door step of Disabled Persons & Senior Citizens to the nearest vaccination centres. A toll free helpline number 181-3, 9915023456 was also provided to facilitate the said service. A team of Supervisors, Anganwari Workers & Helpers and NSS Volunteers were also deputed at 24 different locations across U.T., Chandigarh by the Department, who made sincere efforts in accelerating the impact of the drive by visiting the residence of Persons with Disabilities/Senior Citizens and encouraged them by removing the myths associated with the vaccination.
