Internet and SMS service to be suspended in Karnal
Chandigarh, September 06, 2021: The Haryana Government has directed to suspend the mobile internet services in district Karnal with effect from September 6 from 12:30 hrs to 23:59 hrs on September 7, 2021 to maintain law & order situation in district Karnal in wake of call for Kisan Mahapanchayat to be held on September 7, in Karnal.
Giving information in this regard, an official spokesperson said that there is a clear potential of disruption of public utilities & safety, damage to public assets & amenities and law & order in district Karnal in wake of call for Kisan Mahapanchayat.
He further added that on account of misuse of internet services by way of spread of inflammatory material and false rumours, which are being/could be transmitted/circulated to the public through social media/ messaging services on mobile internet services, SMS services and other dongle services.
Therefore, in exercise of powers under Rule 2 of Temporary Suspension of Telecom Services (Public Emergency or Public Safety) Rules, 2017, 1, Secretary Home, Haryana do hereby order for the suspension of the mobile internet services (2G/3G/4G/CDMA/GPRS), all SMS services, including bulk SMS (excluding & banking & mobile recharge) and all dongle services etc. provided on mobile networks except the voice calls in district Karnal.
This order will remain in force from 12:30 hrs on September 6, 2021 to 23:59 hrs on September 7, 2021.
The Kisan Morcha had given a call for a rally in Karnal to protest the lathi-charge on protesting farmers by police that left several injured.
The district administration has already imposed section 144 banning public assemblies. While stepping up the security, the administration has announced diversion in many places in the anticipation of the rally.
