Under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, District Administration in collaboration with Project BAALA has provided 19,795 menstrual hygiene kits to the students of 8th to 12th classes which can be reusable for two years. Agarwal Women Cell has volunteered in distribution activity.
It may be mentioned here that earlier a book titled 'Menstrupedia Comic' was provided to the girls of District Moga to sensitize them about the entire process of their menstrual days, which is proving to be very useful for the girls above 9 years of age.
This book in the Punjabi language is a useful and interesting information guide for girls about the period, which has been distributed free of cost in all government schools in District Moga.
The 82-page book is divided into four sections and 14 sub-sections covering topics like growing up girls, physical changes in girls and boys as they age, what a healthy diet should be, what periods are and how they are formed, how babies are formed in the body, pain relief measures during the periods, When will my next period come, how to keep track of menstrual cycle, premenstrual symptoms, how to deal with symptoms, how to take care of yourself before period, what is a sanitary pad and how to use it, How to make sanitary pads at home, how to dispose of used pads, what to do when the first-period starts, measures to use hygiene during the period, etc. These topics were reiterated and discussed in both online and offline sessions conducted by Project BAALA.
District Administration Moga had printed these 4000 books and one book for every 7 girls has been distributed in schools. Because online learning is still being done, teachers are also providing this information in online classes.
