Centre denies permission to SAD's protest march in Delhi; Dr Cheema describes it 'undemocratic' step
Peaceful march will be held as planned, says Dr Cheema
Chandigarh, September 16, 2021:
A day before the scheduled protest march of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) in Delhi, the central government has denied the permission for the same.
Shiromani Akali Dal has condemned the central government for denying permission to their protest march, which was scheduled to be held on Friday in Delhi.
Senior leader of the party Dr Daljit Cheema said, “We strongly condemn the central government and Delhi police for denying the permission of our march. It is an undemocratic way to restrict anyone in India from holding peaceful protests.”
Cheema also announced that the party would stage the protest despite the centre not granting permission for the same. He said, “The protest will surely take place as per our plan. No one can stop us from staging a peaceful protest against the agri laws.”
Dr Cheema has also tweeted that Jathas start leaving for Delhi to participate in protest march on September 17 from Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib to Parliament House. He has also uploaded a photo of the jatha on the Twitter.
Notably, the party had decided to observe September 17 as black day to mark one year of enactment of the three farm laws. Party workers, alongside farmers, will hold a protest march from Gurdwara Rakabganj in Delhi to Parliament demanding repeal of the three agri laws, as announced then.
