Abdul Monir Kakar submits Request from Afghan Students Unity Group to UT Adviser
Chandigarh, September 16, 2021:
Abdul Monir Kakar, Founder, Afghan Students Unity Group in Chandigarh submitted a request – ‘Request from AFGHAN STUDENTS UNITY GROUP IN CHANDIGARH for assistance in completion of Education and Living Expenses’ to UT Adviser.
In this regard, as per directions of Dharampal, Adviser to the Administrator UT Chandigarh, Mandip Singh Brar, IAS, Deputy Commissioner along-with S.D.M Central held the meeting on Thursday with Abdul Monir Kakar, Founder, Afghan Students Unity Group in Chandigarh and H.S. Sabharwal, President, Guru Granth Sahib Sewa Society.
In the meeting, Abdul Monir Kakar brought various issues/problems faced by them into the notice of Deputy Commissioner. H.S. Sabharwal, President, Guru Granth Sahib Sewa Society came forward for the arrangement of dry ration kits for the Afghan Students. There are more than 80 students who are studying in various colleges of the city including Panjab University.
Dharam Pal asked Secretary Education to take up the matter with the concerned educational institutes and try to help them in these hours of crisis with tuition fee waivers and hostel support.
H.S. Sabharwal also assured the Deputy Commissioner that they are wholeheartedly with the Afghan students in this hour of need and are ready to provide any help to Afghan students including medical assistance. Sh. Mandeep Singh Brar, IAS, Deputy Commissioner thanked Sabharwal for this kind gesture.
