Give prior intimation of police action against our Members, HC Bar Association writes DGP Punjab
Chandigarh, September, 17, 2021: The Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association, Chandigarh has asked the police to provide them a prior intimation in case police action is proposed against any member of their association.
In a letter to Punjab DGP Dinkar Gupta, the Association cited an incident that reportedly occurred in Panchkula where a Bar member was picked up by the police while he was writing a complaint in his office.
Association stated that a false case was planted on him apart from custodial torture and misbehavior by the police.
Chanchal K Singla, Secretary Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association, Chandigarh said that in order to maintain cordial relationship between the police and the legal community who are both sides of the same coin, the Association should be given prior intimation of any proposed action against thier members.
