Nawanshahr, September 28, 2021: The Youth Wing of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab led by state president and MLA Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer and MLA Jai Singh Rodi held a protest march against drugs from Nawanshahr to Khatkar Kalan on the birth anniversary of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh and called on the youth to mobilize against drugs and drug traffickers.
On arrival at Khatkar Kalan, Meet Hayer, Jai Singh Rodi, several office-bearers and party volunteers paid obeisance at the memorial of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and offered floral tributes.
On the occasion, Meet Hayer said, “In 75 years, the conventional ruling parties have not lived up to the dreams of the martyrs. Therefore, it is time for the Congress, the Badals, and the BJP, who have been ruling for decades in the guise of black British, to pack up for departure.” He also slammed the newly appointed Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi.
Regarding the protest march, Meet Hayer said the youth of Punjab have been ensnared in drugs and the march was an attempt to make them aware. He said it has been four-and-half-a-years since the Congress has come to power.
The promises made by Capt Amarinder Singh to the people by swearing in Sri Gutka Sahib that he would eradicate drugs in four weeks proved to be hollow. Now the Chief Minister has been replaced by appointing Charanjit Singh Channi as new CM, who is playing all sorts of tricks to fool the people, he asserted.
Jai Singh Rodi said the Congress government had destroyed the youth of Punjab just like the Badals; by not fulfilling the promise made by taking oath of Sri Gutka Sahib about drugs. He said sons of hundreds of mothers' have been killed and homes have been devastated. “The Badals-BJP and the Congress are responsible for the deaths due to drugs.
Drug addiction has reached its peak in Punjab. Their own ministers and MLAs are involved in drug addiction. The big drug dealers are roaming freely while the drug addicted youth are being sent to jails,” he added.
