Two more mobiles recovered on second consecutive day from inside jail, two inmates booked
Ferozepur, October 14, 2021: On the second consecutive day, two mobiles were recovered from under-trial jail inmates. So far, more than 200 mobiles have been recovered from inside the jail, during the current year. Frequent recovery of mobiles, on the second day today, speaks of the vigilant staff at the checking points.
The purpose of giving punishment by keeping the prisoners away from worldly affairs is lost with the frequent recovery of mobiles, for the crime committed is lost. While the vigilant staff is keeping a cat eye on the activities inside the jail premises, it has also put a question mark on smuggling in of the mobiles.
Added here, the Ferozepur jail is headed by Surinder Singh, BSF officer on deputation with the jail department. Recently, the central government has also increased the jurisdiction of the BSF to give its officers the powers to arrest, search and seizure to the extent of 50 km from the borders inside the bordering states of Punjab, West Bengal, Assam and Tripura.
As per the information, a sudden search operation was carried out by a team headed by Darshan Singh Assistant Superintendent when two mobiles, were recovered from the prisoners under trial – Sahib and Gurpreet Singh, wrapped in a plastic envelope along with 5 gm while coloured intoxicant substance.
Meanwhile, a case under Sections 52-A/42 Prisons Act has been registered against the inmates and further investigations have been entrusted to Sharma Singh, IO.
