1200 Lecturers to be recruited by Nov end strengthening Education Infrastructure in Punjab: Pargat Singh

Jalandhar, October 17, 2021: Education, Sports, and NRI Affairs Minister Pargat Singh today said that the Education Department would recruit 1200 lecturers by the end of November as the process was underway on fast track mode.
Addressing the gathering during an event to distribute cheques to landless farmers under the debt waiver scheme, the minister said that both the education and sports departments were working in a synchronized manner to make these key fields in tune with contemporary times.
He stated that the department was going to launch a mammoth drive to distribute sports kits among all 3.5 lakh school-going children aiming at channelizing their energy into the right direction by further boosting sports activities at the school level.
Speaking on the power purchase agreements made by the previous SAD-BJP government, the minister further revealed that the Punjab government was working hard to reduce power tariff in the state by Rs. two to three in the coming days which would be a landmark decision of the government in providing relief to electricity consumers after its first decision to waive of pending electricity bills worth Rs. 1200 crore of users having load up to two kilowatts.
Interacting with the media persons after the event, Pargat Singh further added that the government was in the process to recruit more physical education teachers in schools besides evolving a mechanism to ensure that the existing 5500 teachers (physical education) must be seen in the school grounds.
The minister also announced government schools in Kukkar Pind and Pholriwal villages as a proposal in this regard is being put up before the next cabinet meeting adding that a hockey and football academy would also be set up in Pholriwal.
He also said that a model sports park is worth Rs. 65 lakh was under construction in village Dhina which would further accelerate sports activities in rural areas.
Meanwhile, the Minister also distributed cheques to landless farmers and laborers worth Rs. 3.59 crore giving relief to as many as 1466 beneficiaries belonging to seven cooperative societies. The debt worth Rs. 56.10 lakh of 266 beneficiaries from Dhanal, Rs. 59.33 lakh of 292 from Khambra, Rs. 33.66 lakh of 153 from Quadianwali, Rs. 21.02 lakh of 127 from Pholriwal, Rs. 61.16 lakh of 286 from Hamiri Kheda, Rs. 45.43 of 84 from Kukkar Pind, and debt worth Rs. 82.44 lakh of 258 beneficiaries from Raipur Phrala village were waived off in today’s event. The Minister added that a total of Rs. 6.75 crore to be waived off as debt giving relief to over 3177 beneficiaries in the Jalandhar Cantt constituency.
