Ferozepur: Three mobiles recovered from jail
Ferozepur, October 24, 2021: Working on the inputs, the vigilant jail staff headed by Gurtej Singh, Assistant Superintendent, during the search operation on Saturday, recovered three mobiles from under trial prisoner Rupinder Singh in barrack number 4.
The posting of BSF officials on deputation as Superintendent Jail has started showing results with the recovery of record mobiles. More than 300 mobiles reported having been recovered this year so far whereas during the last year the number was 122.
The Central Jail is surrounded by residential areas and there had been a number of incidents of throwing of packets containing banned items like mobiles, intoxicant items. Ferozepur Central Jail Superintendent Surinder Singh, who is on deputation from BSF is making all-out efforts along with the staff to make the jail into a ‘mobile free’.
As per the details, three mobiles of two different brands were recovered with batteries and SIM cards. While one mobile was found from the possession of the inmate, the other two mobiles were found kept under the bags full of wooden outside barrack number 4.
Meanwhile, a case under Section 52-A under the Prisons Act has been registered against the inmate and unidentified person and further investigations are on with Balbir Singh, IO.
