Majithia on bail but case is still on: Dr Verka

Chandigarh, January 14, 2022: Cabinet Minister in Punjab Govt Dr. Raj Kumar Verka has castigated the role of the Badal family and the central agencies in the Majithia Drugs case.
Addressing the virtual online press conference hosted by the Media department of the Punjab Congress, Dr. Verka said that in this infamous drug case the investigation was done by agencies when the NDA govt was in power. Not only that, the sister of the main accused was a minister in the union cabinet and his brother-in-law the home minister in the Punjab state government.
Dr. Verka said that the statement of Jagdish Bhola, who was being investigated at the time when this case was caught, clearly has become an embarrassment for the Badal family and points fingers at Bikram Majithia.
The minister categorically stated that the misinformation campaign of various opposition parties on the scholarship scam was misplaced and misconceived. He assured that no one from the Dalit community will suffer nor any accused in this matter will be spared.
In the election scenario, Dr. Verka said that the Congress party is like a silver coin when the rest of the opposition parties are like spent pennies.
He said that Congress will fight and win the election under a collective leadership while the opposition has no face nor any concrete political alignment to go before the electorate.
Dr. Verka while taking questions from the press highlighted the achievement of the Punjab government.
He said that the Lab testing facility at Patiala by the congress govt is one of the best COVID 19 labs in the country. Also, the response of the Punjab government during the second wave of COVID 19 was amongst the best in the country which resulted in a lower impact of the virus in the state.
Dr. Verka said that the Congress party has brought development in the state which is not just on paper but also on the ground. Punjab has topped in multi-modal infrastructure schemes in the whole country.
Apart from this, he said that the allowance of midday employees has been increased to Rs.3000 and its period has been increased from 10 months to 12 months. 21418 ASHA employees are given a fixed allowance of Rs 2500 per month above the amount given to them on the basis of incentives.
Health services and education were improved by upgrading medical colleges at Faridkot, Ludhiana, Patiala.
