Chandigarh: 10 Omicron cases found in 75 random samples sent for Whole Genome Sequencing to IMTECH

Chandigarh, January 17, 2022:
10 Omicron cases have been found in a total of 75 random samples sent for Whole Genome Sequencing to IMTECH.
As per the UT health department, the results of random positive samples sent for Whole Genome Sequencing to IMTECH on 4th Jan 2022 have been received.
Out of 75 total samples sent from 21st Dec 2021 to 2nd Jan 2022, a Variant of concern has been found in 20 samples. Out of these 10 are having Delta as a variant of concern and the rest are having Omicron as a variant of concern.
Out of 10 with Omicron as a variant of concern; 9 are positive cases of Chandigarh Residents (Community). Only one International returnee from Australia, a low-risk country has turned out to be positive for Omicron, the health department informed.
