Ludhiana, January 25, 2022: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Sukhbir Singh Badal today demanded the immediate arrest of former PunjabDGP Siddhartha Chattopadhyay for taking orders from a proclaimed offender in the Bhola drug case even as he asserted that former minister Bikram Majithia had been implicated in a false drug case by the Charanjit Singh Channi led Congress government.
The SAD president, who asserted that he would leave politics if a single shred of evidence of wrongdoing in the drug case was proved against Bikram Majithia, said the entire conspiracy to implicate Majithia would be exposed once Chattopadhyay was arrested.
Asserting that all the evidence against Chattopadhyay was in the public realm, Majithia said it was surprising that the Congress government had not taken any action against him till now.
“We have an audiotape of a DGP taking orders from a proclaimed offender. They are also heard talking about postings and transfers as well as the establishment of an illegal interrogation and detention centre”.
Badal said the government had similarly not taken any action against Sidhu Moosewala, the singer turned Congressmen who was also a proclaimed offender. “Even LIP leader Simarjit Bains is not been arrested despite being booked in a rape case”.
Badal said in stark contrast in the case of Majithia not only was a false case registered against him but Section 37 of the NDPS Act was also included to ensure he could not secure pre-arrest bail. “Pre-arrest bail has been rejected on this technical ground but we will now approach the apex court for the same”.
He also asserted that efforts were on to stop the SAD’s march to power by all national parties and that Majithia had been specially chosen for the vendetta exercise as he had always fought against all injustices head-on.
The SAD President announced that once the SAD- BSP government was formed a Commission headed by a retired judge of the Supreme Court would be established to probe all false cases registered during the tenure of the Congress government. He said action would also be taken against officers responsible for registering false cases.
Later senior leader Maheshinder Singh Grewal announced that Sukhbir Singh Badal had been unanimously chosen as the chief ministerial candidate of the SAD-BSP combine at a meeting of the SAD’s core committee which was also attended by Punjab BSP President Jasbir Singh Garhi.
During his Ludhiana visit, Badal held various public meetings of different Assembly constituencies falling in the city and its vicinity.
Maheshinder Singh Grewal, Harish Rai Dhanda, Hira Singh Gabria, Ranjit Singh Dhillon, Pritpal Singh Pali, RD Sharma and district president (urban) Harbhajan Singh Dang were present on different programmes.
