59 Model Polling Stations set up in Jalandhar
Also one women polling booth in each assembly segment to encourage the participation of women voters in polls

Jalandhar, February 9, 2022: As many as 59 model polling stations, nine women polling stations, and one PWD polling station would be set up in the district to further encourage the participation of these sections in voting besides making the voting experience pleasant.
Divulging the details, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said that seven each model polling stations to be set up in assembly segments Kartarpur, Jalandhar West, Jalandhar Central, Jalandhar North, and Jalandhar Cantt while six each in Phillaur, Nakodar, Shahkot, and Adampur constituencies.
He further added that at these model polling stations, the special focus was laid on building conditions, accessibility, furniture, provision of basic amenities, medical facilities, sitting arrangements, toilets, and others so that voters visiting these stations get renewed experience of voting.
Likewise, to encourage women voters towards voting nine women-managed polling stations (one in each segment) have been set up in the district.
The women staff has been entrusted with the responsibility of these booths including the responsibility of poll personnel which included polling and security staff.
He said that this step would not only boost the morale of women polling staff but also encourage the participation of women voters in this democratic procedure.
Similarly, a PWD polling station would be set up in Jalandhar Central constituency which would entirely be managed by women staff.
The DC also called upon all the voters to exercise their right to franchise on Poll day i.e. February 20, 2022 and reiterated the district administration’s commitment to ensure free, fair, and transparent polls in Jalandhar.
