Rana Sodhi and Sukhpal Nannu booked for assaulting and threatening 29-year-old youth
Ferozepur, March 4, 2022: Former Minister Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi and Sukhpal Singh Sodhi former MLA and Chief Parliamentary Secretary, have been booked under Sections 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation) under FIR No.47, today for allegedly beating and threatening, 29-year-youth, Surjit Singh on the poll day on February 20.
Added here, Rana Sodhi – four-time MLA from Guruharsahai, after leaving the Congress, was a candidate for BJP from Ferozepur Urban and Sukhpal Singh Nannu is former MLA and Chief Parliamentary Secretary (CPS).
In the complaint to the police, Surjit Singh of village Jallo Ke Gatti Rahime Ke, 29 years old, has stated that he owns an ‘atta chaki’ and on the afternoon of February 20, 2022, on the polling day of Assembly elections, Satnam Singh, Sonu of village Hazara and Surinder Singh of village Bhakhra, who was doing the work of purchasing of votes and distributing money, started threatening on stopping and abused me. It is also stated that later on when Surjit Singh moved to cast my vote, Rana Sodhi – a BJP candidate and Sukhpal Singh Nannu challenged and Sonu Singh, Mangat Ram, Satnam Singh, Surinder Singh, and 20-25 unidentified persons, started beating me when Sukhpal Singh Nannu former MLA hit me with the butt of a gun of a uniformed person, in my head and fell down on the floor with bleeding. Besides, his mobile was also snatched.
In the counter case, on the complaint of Rana Sodhi, Surjit Singh has also been booked under Sections 323 and 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation) of IPC. However, further investigations are on.
