Ferozepur: 31 acres of Gram Panchayat land freed in Abhipur village
Ferozepur, May 18, 2022: As part of a statewide drive, the Punjab department of rural development and panchayats on Tuesday, freed 31 acres, 5 kanals of Gram Panchayat land, illegally occupancy for the last 30 years, at Abu Bakkar village under Zira block, acting on the directions received from Rural Development and Panchayat Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal.
In another village Sher Singh Wala, more than one-acre Panchayat land, under illegal occupation, was redeemed, said Babandeep Singh Walia, SDM.
He said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had already warned the occupants of government or panchayat lands to hand over the same to the government by May 31.
Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, Cabinet Minister had already said that under a special drive across the state in the first phase, the state government has set a target of vacating 5,000 acres of panchayat land by May 31.
