Kisan Morcha lifts dharna after meeting CM Mann, Kuldeep Dhaliwal makes major announcements at protest site (Watch Video)

Chandigarh, May 18, 2022: A day after staging dharna at YPS Chowk with the plan for indefinite strike, various farmers unions on Wednesday lifted the dharna after meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
Cabinet Minister Kuldeep Singh who reached the protest site made major announcements concerning farmers.
"I'm a farmer son and so is CM Bhagwant. We are the part of farmer's community. This is the government of the people. Farmers will no longer stage a dharna. Their every demand will be met by the Mann government," said Kuldeep Singh surrounded by farmer leaders at the protest site.
"After four hours-long meeting with the farmers, CM Mann announcements that only farmer's debts will be waived but they will be debt-free," said cabinet minister.
Dhaliwal shared that a long discussion was held on paddy sowing where the farmers' representatives and government officials gave their points.
"After deliberation, the Punjab government has decided to divide state over paddy sowing into two zones. The farmer leader will soon provide the list of the zones to the government. The date for the paddy sowing has been decided to June 14 and June 17. The farmers at border state will start paddy sowing at June 10," he announced.
He further shared that notification on MSP on the Moong crop as earlier announced by the Punjab government was handed over to the farmer leaders during the meeting.
"Many people have come here from the Majha region. A lot of farmers in the Majha belt cultivate Basmati including me. Tomorrow, CM Bhagwant Mann will be meeting Union home minister Amit Shah where he will hold a talks on MSP on Basmati, bonus on wheat and the recent Centre move to terminate the state’s representation in the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB)," Dhaliwal informed.
He further assured that there will be no arrest warrant against loan defaulter farmers.
