Vijay Dutt, Member, Punjab State Food Commission visits government schools in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, May 19, 2022: Member of Punjab State Food Commission Vijay Dutt, on Thursday, inspected Government Primary and Middle School Mallwal Kadim and checked the quality of food provided to the students through mid-day meal. He also visited Anganwadi Center at the school.
Earlier, he had a meeting with the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Gagandeep Singh Virk, District Food and Supply Controller Vandana Kamboj, District Education Officer Elementary Rajiv Chhabra, District Program Officer Ratandeep Sandhu and Deputy District Education Officer Sukhwinder Singh at the Circuit House to review about the services provided by the departments under Food Safety and Standards Act.
Expressing satisfaction after having tasted the mid-day food, Dutt directed the school heads to ensure the provision of high-quality food to the students through the mid-day meals. He also asked them to provide RO’s clean water to the children and clean the system from time to time.
He also reviewed the working of the Anganwadi Centers and got information about the facilities being provided to the children.
Listening to their problems, he said, the Commission has also sent a proposal to the government to increase the wages of mid-day meal workers.
He directed the officers of various departments to ensure the display of the numbers of the Complaints Cell of the Commission outside the depots, schools, Anganwadi Centers, and Health Institutions and the same should be publicized as much as possible. He also advised the officers of the departments to ensure compliance of the Food Safety and Standards Act and to send the relevant reports to the Commission.
Taking a serious note of the complaint received by the Commission about taking money for free wheat under the PM’s Welfare Food Scheme against the depot holder at village Lohgarh in Ferozepur, he said a committee headed by the concerned officers has been constituted for its complete investigation and to submit its report to the commission within 5 days. He said that if the complaint was found to be valid then legal action would be taken against the concerned depot holder as per rules.
