Ferozepur police nab two inter-state drug smugglers, seize poppy husk and habit-forming drugs
Ferozepur, May 20, 2022: The Ferozepur police intensifying the anti-drug campaign in the district, today nabbed two inter-state drug smugglers with the recovery of poppy husk, habit-forming drugs, and two smartphones.
Divulging with the details, SSP Charanjit Singh said, the Narcotic Cell in charge, Parminder Singh Inspector under the tutelage of a team of police offices Gurbinder Singh, SPI), and Arun Mundan, DSP (NDPS Act), working swiftly on the in-puts, nabbed two drug smugglers Kulwant Singh (50), Gurkiratan Singh (20).
The accused were arrested near Lakho Ke Behram on Ferozepur-Fazilka road with the recovery of 1.40 kg poppy husk, 50,000 habit-forming drugs – Tramadol HC sR tablets IP 100 mg, TTMD-100SR and 7 plastic bags of 20 kg each containing poppy husk, said SSP.
During the investigation, it was revealed that this is the first time that habit-forming drugs along with poppy husk has been recovered and were being transported from Rajasthan at the cheaper rates, to earn by selling at the higher rates, he added.
He further said in-depth investigations will be carried out after getting the police remand, by tracing backward and forward history to crack the chain supply. However, the hunt is also on to nab the third accomplice.
