Ferozepur : NGOs stare at blood shortage; donate 92 units at camp

Ferozepur, June 26, 2022: With many Ferozepurians away on summer vacations, there is a drop in stock at blood banks and taking cognizance of the blood shortage in the blood bank in Ferozepur district, the Non-government organisations (NGOs) have started organising blood donation camps.
In one of the camps organized, under the directions of Deputy Commissioner, Amrit Singh, at Gurdwara Shaheed Ganj Sahib at Mudki - dedicated to Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav - 91 units of blood were donated to help the needy persons. Volunteers helped and gave moral support to those donating blood. The samples were carefully sealed and transported to the Blood bank of the hospital.
Giving a message on this occasion, DC said, it is commendable that our NGOs have come forward to organise the blood donation camp like normal times. A drop of blood donated will save the life of a needy person at the civil hospital.
Present on this occasion were B.L.Pasricha from Bharat Vikas Parishad, Satvir Singh Mirje Ke, President, Medical Practitioners Association, Civil Hospital Blood Bank Team, Red Cross staff and members of the NGOs.
Ashok Behal, Secretary, Red Cross Society informed that NGOs in the district are voluntarily come forward, at the time of need of blood bank in the society especially during the summer days when drop in stock at blood bank is noticed due to most of the young donors away on summer vacations and today, as many as 92 units of blood was donated in the Blood Bank. The donor’s great contribution to the blood bank to help humanity was appreciated and gifted saplings to become a part of giving a pollution-free environment also.
Pasricha, an NGO said, we are always committed to the welfare of the society and nation. More such camps can be organized on a need basis on a single call from the district administration.
