Finance Minister makes major announcement by presenting Punjab budget; Read the copy of budget

Chandigarh, June 27, 2022: Punjab finance minister Harpal Cheema presented the budget estimate for the year 2022-23 on Monday. Punjab government presented a budget of 1 lakh 55 thousand 860 crore for 2022-23. It is an increase of 14 percent as compared to the previous budget.
To prevent tax evasion in the state, the government will form Tax Intelligence Unit, announced FM Cheema.
The state government has also increased budget for the education sector.
In education sector, 16% increase in higher education, 57% increase in medical and 47% increase in technical education.

."Our good governance model will be answerable to the public.Our government has zero-tolerance for corruption. In this regard, CM Bhagwant Mann had launched the anti-corruption action line under which action against corrupt officers is being taken. CM Bhagwant Mann had even sacked his minister on corruption charges," said Harpal Cheema.
"26454 employees have been recruited by the AAP government. 36,000 contractual employees will also be regularised soon. CM Bhagwant Mann had promised to provide 300 units of free power to each household which is going to implement now.," he added.
"CM had also implemented one MLA one pension scheme through which Rs 19 cr 53 lakh will be saved from Punjab exchequer. This will be the paperless budget and it will save Rs 21 lakh per year. Also, more than 800 trees will be saved with this," said the finance minister.
