Chandigarh, June 30, 2022:
The Indian School of Business (ISB) is delighted to host the first annual ISB-NBER Conference on Economic Policy and the Indian Economy at its Hyderabad campus on December 17-18, 2022. The conference series will showcase research on a range of topics that are relevant to India and other nations in South Asia. The 2022 meeting will emphasize the determinants of entrepreneurship, enterprise development, and job creation, and the role of economic policy in affecting these outcomes.
Headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) is a private, nonpartisan organization that facilitates cutting-edge investigation and analysis of major economic issues. It disseminates research findings to academics, public and private-sector decision-makers, and the public by posting more than 1,200 working papers and convening more than 120 scholarly conferences, each year.
Professor Madan Pillutla, Dean, ISB- “The Indian academic community in general and ISB, in particular, is honoured to host the first annual ISB-NBER conference on Economic Policy and the Indian Economy. Thought-leaders and experts will converge at this prestigious conference and bring to the fore some of the finest perspectives which in turn will pave the way for designing new and innovative strategies for the economic development of the country ”.
Professor James Poterba, President and Chief Executive Officer, NBER - “ I am very grateful for ISB's support for this new partnership, which will bring some of North America's leading applied economists to India. It will enable them to learn about key economic issues and policies and strengthen ties between our academic communities. Because of its remarkable pace of change, there is great excitement around studying the Indian economy. I expect that a substantial group of NBER researchers will be interested in participating in this initiative”.
ISB-NBER is welcoming submissions by scholars who are early in their careers, who are not NBER affiliates, and who are members of the under-represented groups. To be considered for inclusion in the program, completed papers must be uploaded by August 25, 2022 via the following link:
