Ferozepur, August 5, 2022: Providing a clean and tidy environment is the first priority of the Punjab government and an awareness campaign has been started today under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, said Fouja Singh Sarari, Cabinet Minister adding that when this message goes from house to house, then our victory in the fight against plastic will be inevitable.
Freedom Fighter, Defence Services, Food Processing and Horticulture Minister, Fouja Singh Sarari today presided over a district level event at the auditorium of Genesis Dental College Moga Road, Ferozepur. On this occasion, a pledge was also administer not to use deadly plastic material.
MLA Zira, Naresh Kataria, MLA Ferozepur Rural Rajnish Dahiya, Deputy Commissioner Amrit Singh, SSP Surendra Lamba, ADC Sagar Setia, District President Chand Singh Gill, SDM. Ranjit Singh Bhullar, Cabinet Minister's daughter Simranjit Kaur, were present.
Sarari urged everyone to participate in this holy work. He said that the environment has become polluted and the Punjab government is working with full determination to make environment clean.
On this occasion, MLA Zira Naresh Katarian and MLA Ferozepur Rural Rajnish Dhaiya appealed not to use plastic and asked the officials of various departments and school children present to convey this message door to door. They said that in order not to use this plastic, we should all take action from today and also make our family members and other relatives aware about not using it.
DC Amrit Singh said that plastic does not decompose naturally and causes pollution on the earth for a long time. She said that we have to stop using single use plastic to save the humanity.
Earlier, Punjab State Production Control Board SDO Arshpreet Singh said that the ban on manufacture, import, stocking, distribution, sale and use of the following single-use plastic items is applicable from July 1, 2022:
Sukhpal Singh from Municipal Council Ferozepur gave information about the products used instead of plastic. He said that we should give priority to the use of reusable items. Two employees of the Municipal Council, who are disabled, were specially honored by the Cabinet Minister for making paper envelopes and giving them to the shops in the market and appreciated their work.
Meanwhile, a poem was presented by the school students to make them aware of not using plastic and its bad effects and information was also given about the proper use of plastic waste material. Beside jute bags and awareness materials were also distributed to the audience.
At the end of the event, Deputy Director of Local Government Kulwant Singh thanked all the present for making the event a success.
