Rana Sodhi asks Sukhbir Badal to release ‘White Paper’ on development works
Ferozepur: Rana Sodhi to lead Motorcycle Tiranga Rally in Ferozepur
HARISH MONGA
Ferozepur, August 12, 2022: Under ‘Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign’ – a flagship programme of Prime Minister Narendra Modi – on 75th Independence celebrations of India, the BJP workers will hold a motorcycle cycle on August 13 besides hoisting of National Flag – Tricolour, on around 8,000 homes of Ferozepur. The idea behind the this initiative is to involve the feeling of patriotism and to remember the sacrifices made for India’s independence, said Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi, Sr. BJP leader and former Cabinet Minister, while holding a press conference today.
Rana Sodhi said, it is necessary for all, especially the young generation, to know the back history of freedom of India by going at the root level as to how the East India Company ruled over us.
Sharing the schedule, Sodhi said, on August 13, the BJP leaders and workers will organize a ‘Motorcycle Tiranga Rally’ which will first visit the National Martyrs’ Memorial at Hussainiwala, in the morning, to pay floral tributes to the martyrs – Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev – followed by a march on foot in the event at 4.30 pm starting from Delhi Gate. During the march, at the main Delhi Gate chowk, rich tributes will be paid to martyrs besides sharing the history of freedom of India, to invoke the feeling of patriotism in the heart of the people and give opportunity to general public to involve themselves in Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav celebration and feel pride for the nation.
Merely hoisting the flag is not purpose; rather one must own it to accord highest respect and honour and to show the patriotism toward our motherland.
In reply to the various queries from the media persons, Rana Sodhi said, the issue of development of border district as tourist hub, the matter has already been taken up with the Centre government, for which the support from media is also needed. He said, recently I have met the Union Railway Minister for converting the old DRM office heritage building into Railway Museum and the auction of the building has been stopped. Shortly the Archeological department will take over to develop it as discussed with the Cultural Minister also.
Sodhi said, the opening of Hussainiwala border is a bilateral issue, a central team will also visit the martyrs’ memorial and it will be a first step for the development of Hussainiwala including the old railway station.
Replying about the release of tanneries polluted chemicals in the Sutlej River, he said, this issue too is in the knowledge of central government and some action will also be taken in this regard.
Taking a jibe at the Congress, Rana Sodhi asked the CM Punjab Bhagwant Mann to immediately release Rs.300 Cr funds for Ayushman scheme dues used for other pruposes, out of which only Rs.16 Cr has been released to the PGI.
He also assured to take up the matter with Rajnath Singh, Home Minister with regard to use of defence rules in Army areas only and not on the civilians.
Regarding the opening of PGI Satellite Centre, he added that we don’t doubt the intention of the Prime Minister but it was very unfortunate that PM had come to lay the foundation stone despite uncertain weather conditions but few Congress workers stopped him on the over bridge. I have asked for the time from the PM and this prime project of the area will be started soon.
On asking as none of the MP has worked for the development of this border district, Rana Sodhi said, I ask Sukhbir Badal to release an ‘White Paper’ as to what has been done for Ferozepur – Malwa region, during his tenure. It was a wrong choice of people for which they should now think it over in the coming elections.
Conveying his thanks to the media persons, Rana Sodhi also distributed National Flags to them, to feel pride to hoist the same on their homes under the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign.
