Nawanshahr to get Award from President of India for Swachhta Survey

Nawanshahr, September 25, 2022:
Municipal Council Nawanshahr once again made its way to bag prize for Azadi@75 Swachh Survekhsan 2022.
It would be formally declared on October 1, 2022 by Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Government of India.
The prize ceremony would be presided over by the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu. This was disclosed by the ADC (G) Rajiv Verma,who also holds the Charge of ADC (UD).
Divulging details, Verma said that as per the communique sent by the Roopa Mishra, Joint Secretary and Mission Director, Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban to the Punjab Government, Nawanshahr is among the 11 urban local bodies of the state selected for the award. The particular category in which the prize is being given would be declared on the day of Prize Distribution ceremony.
It is pertinent to mention that in the year 2019 Nawanshahr got the top ranking in cleanest city and Garbage free city while in 2020 Nawanshahr bags the award for sustainable city.
Among the other cities of Punjab selected for the award included Bareta, Bhikhi, Dasuha, Fazilka, Ghagga, Gobindgarh, Jalandhar Cantonment Board, Kurali, Moonak and Nangal local urban bodies.
