Manish Tewari,MP from Sri Anandpur Sahib and former Union Minister,in a communication to the Union Railway Minister,Ashwani Vaishnav, has expressed deep pain and anguish Over the unfortunate and tragic mishap at Kiratpur Sahib.
It is worthwhile to mention here that the Rail mishap has caused death of three children Mohinder (7 years old), Vicky (8 years old), and Rohit (11 years old) under a passenger train in Kiratpur Sahib. One other child was severely injured.
While narrating the traumatic experience of his
Visit to the distraught and inconsolable families of the deceased children ,the MP said that the incident had shaken the families and the people of Kiratpur Sahib to the core. The families of the deceased children are very poor and live in Jhuggis and they expressed their righteous anger about the lack of security at the railway line.
" It is also worth asking how in broad daylight, at 11:30 AM, the driver could not see the children. It is pertinent to mention that the train did not slow down at all as it should have given that it was barely 800 meters from the Station. This is a clear case of negligence that has led to the death of three innocent buds",he added.
Tewari urges the Railway Minister to take serious note of the dereliction in duty and register a case of culpable homicide and pay compensation to the families of the deceased for this tragic incident.
