Ferozepur, December 7, 2022: On the occasion of Armed Force Flag Day, Deputy Commissioner, Amrit Singh was presented the Flag and made her contribution in Armed Forces Flag Day Fund with an appeal for generous contribution to government and non-government institutions wholeheartedly.
Since 1949, 7th December is observed as the Armed Forces Flag Day throughout the country to honour the martyrs and the men in uniform who valiantly fought & continue to fight on our borders to safeguard the country's honour. Soldiers are one of the greatest assets of any country. They are the guardians of the nation and protect its citizens at all costs. To fulfil their duties, soldiers have sacrificed a lot of things in their lives. The country is forever indebted to these gallant heroes who lay down their lives in the service towards the motherland.
DC said the Armed Forces Flag Day celebrated every year reminds us to pay respect to the martyred, disabled soldiers and ex-servicemen protecting our borders. She said that the fund given by us on this day is a symbol of our sincerity and commitment towards the defenders of the country. She also started the Flag Day Fund by making her own contribution. She also asked to contribute wholeheartedly to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund.
DC highlighted the importance of this day that Army Flag Day refreshes the memory of the immortal martyrs of the country, who have sacrificed their today for our tomorrow. On this day, the services and sacrifices rendered by the security forces for the country are remembered, which gives courage to the families of the soldiers and gives them confidence that the people of the country are with them in all the bad and good times.
She further said, to maintain the unity and integrity of the country, the soldiers have sacrificed a lot against enemy imposed wars and terrorism, which are commendable. Many soldiers were martyred and many were disabled forever. Taking care of the families of such soldiers becomes the primary responsibility of the government and the society. Of course, the government provides many kinds of assistance to such families from time to time with great sympathy, but the Armed Forces Flag Day is a tribute to the nation of India and every citizen of this state to its brave soldiers and provides a golden opportunity to show respect to their families. The money collected as donation is deposited in the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund of the state government which is used for the on-going schemes for the welfare of the families of soldiers who have died for the country and disabled soldiers and other needy ex-servicemen.
