Chandigarh University Pro-Chancellor launches CUCET-2023 and scholarships worth Rs 60 Crore

Ferozepur, December 9, 2022: The Chandigarh University (CU) today launched CUCET-2023, the National Level Entrance-cum-Scholarship Test of the Varsity, with scholarships worth Rs. 60 Crore at Ferozepur.

Chandigarh University becomes a top choice for employers; 389 from Malwa, 1008 from Punjab among 9500 bag jobs in 900 companies
Speaking to the media persons, Prof. (Dr.) R.S.Bawa, (Founder Vice Chancellor), PRO Chancellor said, it is an extreme honour for any educational institution to be positioned in the global and national rankings, and Chandigarh University, Gharuan with 185th rank in QS Asia Universities Rankings 2023 has not just strengthened its position among India’s elite and prestigious institutions of higher education, but it has also become the youngest university to feature in this list, stated Dr. R S Bawa, Pro-Chancellor Chandigarh University at Firozpur. He was addressing the press conference organized to launch CUCET-2023, the National Level Entrance-cum-Scholarship Test of the Varsity, with scholarships worth Rs. 60 Crore.
PRO Chancellor Bawa said, India needs to give quality life and we are filling this gap by organizing the motivational seminars for the students.
“Based upon strong performance in parameters such as employer reputation, academic reputation, strong research ecosystem, inflow of international students and faculty, Chandigarh University has confined itself among the top 200 universities of Asia in the recently released QS Asia Universities Rankings 2023. With this fete, Chandigarh University has become 2nd among the top private universities in India and the youngest university to feature in the top 200 QS Asia Universities Rankings 2023 with an impressive jump of 90 positions in comparison to the QS Asia Universities Rankings 2022. CU has secured 185th rank in Asia, 14th in India, and 2nd rank in the category of private universities of India” said Dr. R S Bawa.
“Chandigarh University ranked 65th in employer reputation in Asia with an improvement of 21 positions in comparison to the last year’s ranking. CU jumped to 153rd rank this year from 223rd rank in the category of international students. The university ranked 97th in Asia under the international faculty category,” he said.
Pro-Chancellor Dr. Bawa said, “More than 900 companies visited Chandigarh University during the campus placement drive and made over 9500 job offers to students of the 2022 batch across various streams. The highest international package offered in 2022 was INR 1.07 Crore, whereas the highest salary package offered during the domestic placements was INR 52.11 Lakh.”
Dr. R S Bawa further added, “A total of 1008 students from Punjab got placed in top-notch companies during this year’s campus placement drive, out of which 389 students belong to the Malwa region. 104 students of the 2022 batch are girls. 171 students of Engineering and 82 MBA students of the batch got offers from leading recruiters. It fills my heart with pride to inform that 36 among the placed students are from Firozpur.”
During the conference, Dr. R S Bawa shared that Manpreet Singh of Firozpur, student of BE in Computer Science Engineering at CU, got offers from four recruiters, namely Startup Far, Wipro, Cognizant, and Mindtree. Apart from this, Paras Kumar from Firozpur (BE CSE) received job offers from IBM, Capgemini and Wipro. Navdeep Singh of BE CSE got offers from three companies like Utrade Solution, Cognizant, and Mindtree.
Underlining the achievements of the university, Dr. Bawa informed, “The students and faculty of Chandigarh University have filed more than 1800 patents in the field of Engineering, Sciences, IT, and Healthcare in the last four years, of which 130 filed patents are of students from Punjab. A budget of Rs. 12 Crore has been reserved for research this year.”
Speaking about the academic collaborations of the university, Dr. R S Bawa said, “With a vision to provide global exposure to its students, Chandigarh University has entered into academic tie-ups with 450 leading universities in more than 80 countries across the globe. Till date, more than 3000 students have been given the opportunity in the form of semester exchange, summer internship, and semester abroad programme where Chandigarh University students have studied at the top universities of USA, Canada, UK, Australia, and other European countries.”
Prior to his interaction with the media, Dr. Bawa launched CUCET-2023, the National Level Entrance cum Scholarship test of Chandigarh University. He said, “With the mission to motivate students and reward the young talents, CU through CUCET-2023 provides a golden opportunity to the students for earning scholarships worth Rs 60 Crores. Chandigarh University has provided scholarships to approximately 1 Lakh students since its inception. In the last year, as many as 21,000 students benefitted from the scholarships offered under CUCET.”
