Agri Deptt holds workshop on Vermicompost at DSCW
Ferozepur, January 30, 2023: A day-long workshop on Vermicompost was held, in collaboration with Punjab Agriculture Department, at Dev Samaj College for Women a premier educational institution of North India, under the tutelage of Chairman Nirmal Singh Dhilon and Dr. Sangeta, Principal. The pass-out students of DSCW have brought laurels to the college in the country and abroad, holding various key posts.
It was a joint collaboration workshop on Vermicompost by the Department of Post Graduate Botany, Agriculture Department and Green Audit Cell of the college on preparing vermicompost and construction of vermicompost units.
Ramandeep Singh, CEO, Zira Organic Worm Zone, Zira participated as subject expert. He said India has an agrarian economy. Owing to the middlemen menace, farmers are unable to reap the benefits of the hard work. There is a need to respond to the woes of the farmers.
He explained in detail the method of preparing food from earthworms. Explaining the benefits of this type of food to the girl students, he said that it is very beneficial in comparison to chemical food prepared in less time and less cost. Moreover, the most important aspect of compost produced by earthworms is that it is 100% organic and there are no harmful chemicals and it is not required to mix with anything.
