Ferozepur, January 30, 2023: In the ongoing campaign against drug addiction, which is being supported by the village panchayats, the Ferozepur police is holding ‘public meetings’ to increase the involvement of common people and an effort to improve relations.
SSP Kanwardeep Kaur said, as per the directions of the DGP, a serious action is being taken to stop the illegal activities of people in drug trade, gangsters, terrorists and other anti-social elements.
In this series, a series of public meetings have been started in the villages as a new initiative by the district police to increase the participation of common people in the ongoing campaign against drug addiction. The public meetings are being held by the police by gathering the concerned men/villagers of four-five villages and the police officers are making people aware of the ill effects of drug addiction and also showing the way back to those who want to get out of this gang.
SSP said, Apart from this, the district police have also increased contact with the people through these meetings so that the activities of anti-social elements can be monitored. Special emphasis is being laid by the district police on getting the support of the public through these meetings and the public is being appealed that complete success under this campaign is possible only with the support of the people.
She said, so far 51 such meetings have been conducted by the police and resolutions have been passed by 107 panchayats. The public meetings are being continued by the police. Helpline No. 96464-00112 has already been issued by the district police for the general public to strengthen the campaign against anti-social elements, with an appeal to share any information they have about terrorists or other bad elements through text messages or WhatsApp messages calls.
