PFB expresses concern over social discrimination in demands with visually impaired persons

Ferozepur, February 3, 2022: The visually impaired class is not happy due to the social discrimination attitude of the government with them, said Anil Gupta, General Secretary, Progressive Federation for the Blind (PFB) Ferozepur Unit. He has expressed the resentment of his class in a letter to the Director, Social Security and Development of Women and Children.
Expressing his concern, Gupta said, on the one hand, the government is talking about the overall development of the state and claiming to achieve new milestones and gaining the faith of the people whereas on the other hand, while making the policies for visually impaired persons, are being ignored.
Divulging with the details, Anil Gupta said, Vijay Lakshmi, a visually impaired wife of Ram Bilas, has been seeking appointment, for her daughter, on death of her husband, on compassionate grounds, in the health department, for the last seven months.
Apart from this, three visually impaired teachers have not been given the Associate Grade so far and the case is lying with the Director Social Security and Development of Women and Children.
Bringing to the notice of the government, he said, in another case, in 2019, 332 posts were advertised to fill up the backlog in the Local Bodies department but the appointment of six persons have been detained, despite fulfilling all the required formalities but so far no appointment letters have been issued even meeting the officers of the concerned department and writing to the Chief Minister Punjab.
Gupta also said, our request to upgrade the government educational institution for visually impaired up to Plus 2 level, has not been given any attention so far and the 10th pass out has to move to some private institutions.
On behalf of PFB, Gupta appealed to the government to look after their genuine demands as we feel, actuality discriminated socially, not being a vote bank of the government.
