MLA Dahiya honours players at Athletic Meet held at Punjab University Constituent College
Ferozepur March 25, 2023: An Athletic Meet was organized at Punjab University Constituent College Mohakam Khanwala near Ferozepur and MLA Ranjish Dahiya, who joined the event as Chief Guest, honoured the players. Dr.N.R.Sharma,Principal and staff was also present on this occasion.
In the athletic meet, apart from 100m, 200m and 400m races, 29 competitions including shot put, javelin throw, discus throw, long jump and tug-of-war were conducted in which the students participated with great enthusiasm and also took an oath to abide by the sports rules.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Rajnish Dahiya said that the Punjab government is making all-out efforts for the all-round development of the state, whether it is in the field of education, health or sports. He said that the purpose of organizing such athletic meets or other sports competitions by the government is to attract the youth towards sports and stay away from drugs. He said that after playing in the district level games, when such youths win at the national level, they also brighten the name of their country, parents and organization.
Dr.N.R.Sharma, Principal said, during the athletic meet, Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Sukhdev and Udham Singh four houses of all the college students were built to encourage the spirit of competition among the college students. A grand parade was performed by them and salute was given by the principal. After the parade march, the flag hoisting ceremony was performed by Professor Harjinder Singh, teacher in charge of the college. Retired Inspector Harbrinder Singh Drill Master declared Sukhdev House as the best house in the parade march and Rajguru House as the best house in the entire sports event. Meanwhile, the first, second and third place students of the athletic meet and NSS were honoured for their good performance.
