A delegation of the Shiromani Akali Dal,comprising, former MP,Prem Singh Chandumajra, MLA,Banga,Dr S.K.Sukhi, SGPC member, Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa,Municipal Councillor,Param Singh Khalsa, Jathedar Mohinder Sing Hussainpur, Ramandeep Singh Thiara, met the Deputy Commissioner, Navjotpal Singh Randhawa today.
The SAD leaders raised the demand for immediate release of the detained youth by the police on flimsy grounds. The youth have no criminal record and are not involved in any crime. Hence, the hard earned peace and social harmony in the state should not be disturbed by creating an atmosphere of fear and terror by the police, they urged while adding that the Punjab was facing an economic crisis and the recent rains had played havoc with the crops. The state government should focus on ameliorating the sufferings of people instead of indulging in such activities ,which could spurt the growing resentment in public.
The SAD delegations have met the DCs in Patiala,Mohali,Ropar and Nawanshahr to apprise them of the ground realities, said Prem Singh Chandumajra while adding that the response of the concerned bureaucrats was positive .
Chandumajra also lauded the statement of DGP,Punjab in this regard and hoped that the government would take immediate remedial measures to maintain peace, social harmony, law and order in the state.
