Khatkar Kalan, March 28, 2023:Deputy Commissioner Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa has served a show cause notice on an Executive Engineer of Public Works Department for inordinate delay in installation of portraits of Sardar Bhagat Singh and family members on Aam Aadmi Clinic Khatkar Kalan.
During his visit to the Clinic to check the installation of portrait of Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh, Mata Vidyavati and Chacha Ajit Singh at Khatkar Kalan Aam Aadmi Clinic, today, DC Randhawa said that the earlier portraits were removed from the clinic in wake of repair and renovation work being executed by the Public Works Department. As the repair and renovation work is still in progress and has to be handed over the building to the Health Department by April 5, 2023, so the re-installation of the portraits got delayed.
Terming the Shaeed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh a true patriot, legend of the 20th Century’s Independence Era, Randhawa ruled out the allegations regarding dis-respect of the great martyrs. He said that the district administration has a great respect for the legendary freedom fighter who laid down his life to free the country from the yoke of British imperialism and how it is possible to forget the hero of the Nation’s Struggle.
“The photographs removed from the dispensary before the starting of repair and renovation work was found faded and the execution agency was asked to re-install the new ones”, added the deputy commissioner by giving the details of the portraits as of Sardar Bhagat Singh, Punjab Mata, Mata Vidyavati and Chacha S. Ajit Singh.
Terming another incident most unfortunate, in which some protestors had defaced the main board of the Aam Aaadmi Clinic, Khatkar Kalan previous day, he said the law would take its own course to deal with the offenders.
Later on, Banga sadar Police Station has booked three persons by name and 5/7 unidentified for defacing the Government Property and violating the orders of District Magistrate. Divulging the more details, DSP Banga Sub Division, Sarwan Singh Bal said that Baljit Singh r/o Village Dharamkot PS Sadar Nawanshahar, Raju Khan r/o Barnala PS City Nawanshahar and Kamaldeep r/o Village Mallupota PS Sadar Banga have been arrested under section 188 of IPC and Section 3 of Punjab Prevention of Defacement Ordinance Act 1997 so far. “Search for the arrest of other unidentified is on”, he said by adding that no one would be allowed to violate the law and order.
